Location: Municipal Theater (Belén de Umbría, Risaralda, Colombia)
This August, at Laboratorio de Letras, we invite you to take part in an intensive narrative workshop in Belén de Umbría, led by Alejandro Sánchez, a renowned Colombian writer and editor. Over two sessions, we will explore the sources that nourish creative writing and the essential elements that structure a story.
Session 1: Sources of narrative creation
Friday, August 29 - 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
We will explore the internal sources (autobiography, personal testimony) and external sources (tradition, history, metafiction) that a writer can draw on when creating.
Session 2: The composition framework, or the elements of a short story
Saturday, August 30 - 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
An exploration of the common elements present in every narrative: a narrator or narrators, events or actions, characters, a setting, and a specific time or moment.
